Re-domestication And Materialism

Description

The re-domestication of women in the post-WWII period was one that was endorsed by US Government policies. Highly skilled women who had made a vital contribution to the war effort were 'encouraged' to return to domesticity so that returning servicemen could find employment. US industrial production began to switch over (whilst retaining an awesome weapons production (MIC) to 'Domestic' products in order to retain Economic Domination that was linked to the 'Marshall Plan' in the war torn economies and industries of Europe. The 'Bretton Woods Agreement' was another link in these deliberate policies.

Possibly an example of what has been elsewhere called "cultural inertia" I believe.   People's attitudes  and expectations lag behind technical possibilities.

Other possibly comparable examples include the design of the earliest passenger railroad cars, with entrances to each compartment from the outside, in imitation of the earlier design of horse-drawn carriages.  Or the design of marble temples to look like earlier temples built of wood.  Etc.   A related phenomenon, possibly, with a different name which I can't recall, involves the design of computer user interfaces to resemble that of earlier non-digital equipment;   the clickable icons are made to look like mechanical pushbuttons.
